Division A held its Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) at the Western Iowa Technical Community College on July 14, 2013. Several clubs in Division A – which is essentially the north and west side of the state – attended this biannual leadership consortium. Larry Hoing, the Division A Governor, hosted the event.
As Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training, I was very excited to visit Division A again. I am always amazed at the top-notch training provided at these events, and Division A did not disappoint. The majority of the TLI was a hands-on workshop where the experienced officers mentored the officers who had not previously held the office. Through a planned exercise led by Area 11 Governor, Shannon Williams, the officers developed goals for the upcoming year and shared strategies to grow and develop the club and its members.
Overall, it was a great TLI and it was definitely worth driving the four-and-a-half hour drive. Thanks so much to Larry, Shannon, and Michelle Holmes (Area 13 governor) for putting it on. I hope to see you all again in January.
