LONG time District 19 Toastmaster, Pete Gardner of Belmond, Iowa is fighting a rare cancer.
to offset costs incurred for uncovered medical expenses, travel, lodging, meals and other
expenses.
This event incorporates a SILENT AUCTION – FOOD – and LIVE MUSIC!
Event date and time is Sunday, July 24th. 3 to 7 p.m.
And the place – The Cattleman’s at the Country Club 1608 3rd. St. N.E. Belmond, IA
In December, 2015, Pete suffered chest pains, prompting thoughts of a heart attack. Doctor diagnosis – pneumonia. In January another episode prompted tests – then additional tests, which verified early stages of Multiple Myeloma, a unique, rare cancer. (M.M. attacks the plasma cells in the bone marrow, turning them cancerous) Pete’s plasma was 61% cancerous.
Investigation of medical facilities with involvement in MM treatment led Pete and wife Janeen to University of Iowa Hospitals, which was experiencing success doing tandem stem cell transplants (Chemo – harvesting – then transplanting cells, with added Chemo sessions and a second transplant two months later.) The first transplant has been completed. The second will take place in September. Consistently, Pete must stay isolated, rested and disease free.
All benefit proceeds go directly to the Gardner family. Financial contributions from companies, businesses, organizations and individuals are welcomed and can be sent to:
