You can get more than just wisdom by attending the great Friday afternoon educational sessions at the District 19 Conference in Dubuque this week! At each of the afternoon sessions, there will be a drawing for a gift certificate for the elegant Hotel Julien restaurant that you can use that evening during the dinner break.
If you’re coming to the conference, please note that the sessions begin at 1 p.m. Friday:
1 P.M. – Ken Snodgrass will start off the conference with his session, ‘ “Don’t Be Upstaged: It’s Yours to Take and Keep.” You’ll learn about effectively using staging, gestures and props to keep your audience’s attention.
2 P.M. – Kurt Strand will lead a session titled, “Effective Leadership Through Your Communication Style.” As a VP for a large international corporation, Kurt knows first-hand the power and effectiveness a good speaker can have on his or her audience.
3 P.M. – At Lisa Gottschalk’s “Jumpstart Your Job and Your Life,” you’ll learn how to engage, inspire, and jump-start your audience into action.
3 P.M. – In the concurrent session, Theresa Mickelson’s “You Light Up My Life!” will show you how to value yourself, value the basics, and value fun.
4 P.M. – Pamela Mumm’s “The Power of Listening in Communication” will demonstrate that listening is not just hearing words, but understanding body language and other unspoken cues.
5 P.M. – In the conference’s keynote speech, “Losing My Way to the World Championship, 2005 World Champion of Public Speaking Lance Miller will walk attendees through many of the lessons he learned while pushing himself and making mistakes.
