As we look into the new Toastmasters year I look back at lessons I have learned in the past. In a previous life I was relocated several times to help failing stores. These stores often failed to meet goals. These goals could be sales related or even operational goals. I never failed to turn a store around.
Now you may be asking yourself what does this have to do with us. Well to be honest, everything and nothing because its all about ME!! You see these stores have a lot of similarities with many of our clubs. These stores had dedicated employees who seemed to be doing all the right things. Still they were not hitting the goals set by the organization. Each and every time I went in to one of these stores I focused on one thing. It was not the goal set by the organization. I focused the team around customer service.
In our organization its all about ME! No, I am not so conceited that I would want you to think about yours truly. ME stands for Member Experience. You see if we work on Member Experience and make sure everything we do is to add value to our members then the rest will follow. If we make positive gains in member experience in the 37 clubs that qualify for a club coach the members will come. If we make positive gains in Member Experience in clubs that struggle with educational awards they too will come.
In reality it is all about the Member Experience. If we want to take District 19, your Division, your Area and your club to the heights of excellence it all starts with you, The Member. In the end it’s all about YOU and ME(Member Experience).
