Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback—and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.
The work I do is expanding rapidly. It involves meeting with ever larger groups on a biweekly basis with attendees looking to me as the subject matter expert. Going to toastmasters has helped me tremendously in being more comfortable talking to a large crowd. Toastmasters have helped me grow the confidence to lead presentations and discussions in large group settings that previously scared the heck out of me.
I have been with Toastmasters for just over a year now. Since I have been involved, I have learned some extremely useful skills in leadership and communication that I use in my day to day position as a Quality Manager with Wells Fargo. In my role I have to be able to effectively communicate to a wide range of individuals and Toastmasters has helped to further develop this skill.
Toastmasters have provided me with a platform from where I am able to jumpstart my overall communication skills. It has molded me into a better communicator by not only helping me to become a better speaker but also a better listener. It has taught me nuances in speech and body language Ii have not known earlier. Thank you, Toastmasters for bringing the best in me.
I was a member of Toastmasters 23 years ago and gained valuable experience in developing my presentation skills for work. I rejoined six months ago after recovering from a traumatic head injury that effected my communication and confidence. It only made sense to return to the organization that gave me my confidence to begin with.
Toastmasters have helped me to better organize my thoughts and speak confidently in high stress situations and in public. I also like having the “safe space” to give and receive feedback as that helps both the giver of the feedback and the receiver of the feedback learn and grow.
