Does your club do social events away from the usual meetings? Summer is a great opportunity for outdoor get-to-togethers that build club camaraderie and cooperation.
One great example is Action Toastmasters, which will have its 3rd annual club picnic from 6 to 8 p.m on September 8th, all welcome; at the home of President Dan Willers and VP Education JoAnn Willers house Willers at 8070 Suncrest Drive in Des Moines. JoAnn says the event is a valuable way for members and to get to know each other outside of the confines of a meeting, and a way to meeting families. At the potluck, the members will have fun and update the website.
Another example is Sunrise Marion Toastmasters, which has been meeting in early July each year at a member’s home to celebrate the start of the new Toastmasters year. At the event, the club recognizes the winner of a club vote for it’s Ron Berry Award, recognizing a member who shows the spirit of a former member who was always eager to step up and fill any role when needed.
