Greetings, District 19! We are off to an exciting start to the 2015-2016 Toastmasters year. We have our sights set on becoming a Select Distinguished District. Becoming a Select Distinguished District will be accomplished by the efforts and dedication of all of our members.
One of the initiatives of the district this year is to strengthen our clubs. We have 31 clubs that are eligible for a club coach due to low membership (12 members or less). A club coach is a current Toastmaster that is appointed to help a qualifying club become a distinguished club. The coach does this by observing the club meetings, and helping the club with various aspects of their meetings and membership building. A club coach helps their club enhance the Member Experience.
You might be asking yourself –
“What’s in it for me?”
Being a club coach is one of the most rewarding roles that you will embark on as a Toastmaster. As a club coach, you will receive training and resources to get you started. You will receive a Toastmasters tumbler, a toolkit to help you along the way, and you will have a dedicated resource to assist you, as you help a club become a stronger, more vibrant club.
“How do I get started?”
You can get started by attending Club Coach Training on Saturday, September 19th at 9:15am at CDS Global, 1901 Bell Avenue, Des Moines. Training will be conducted by District 19’s Club Coach Chair, Brenda Peshak.
If you are interested in becoming a club coach, please email Jeanne Heil, Club Growth Director, or Brenda Peshak, Club Coach Chair.
“My club has 12 members or less. How can we get a coach?”
Club presidents can request a club coach by emailing Jeanne Heil, requesting a club coach to be appointed. Jeanne and Brenda will work with the current club coaches that have not yet been appointed, or recruit a local member to appoint as your new coach.
Together, we will help our clubs become stronger. Together, we will enhance the member experience for all of our members. Together, we will celebrate our success as Distinguished District.
Keep doing GREAT things!
Jeanne Heil, DTM
Club Growth Director
