Anne Sposato, a fellow Professional Achiever club member of Sal Salgado, “jump started” a gratifying experience. Her curious question, “Sal, how is it, considering your long tenure and many Toastmaster activities and service, you don’t have your DTM?” Sal’s response of “being too busy” was not acceptable to Anne. She next discussed this oversight to long-time member Joan Johanson, suggesting “Let’s help him get this done.”
Sal joined Toastmasters the 1989-1990 Toastmasters District year. In 1990-1991 Sal chartered one of Toastmasters International’s first bilingual (Spanish/American) clubs, Los Oradores, #7981. Sal was Area 72 Governor in Division B the 1995-1996 year. Sal was a charter member of the Professional Achievers club #8132 in 1990-1991. Sal has provided a plethora of professional skills educational presentations at numerous Area – Division – District and Region IV Conferences which have aided countless Toastmasters.
Privately, besides his salon business, Sal is trained and long experienced providing personal self-enrichment with Hypnotherapy. In addition, he is very busy and involved with counseling cancer victims and survivors. When not Toastmastering, Sal is a Continuing Education facilitator teaching license renewal for the State of Iowa. To know Sal Salgado is to know an individual who is genuine, inspired, creative, always helpful and supportive. His main focus is mentoring, giving back to others what Toastmasters has given him. He “lives” what Toastmasters hopes and wants all members to do. To many who know him well, he is a “DTM +!”
