On October 8th, District 19 Toastmasters staffed a booth at the 2015 Iowa Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) Conference. The annual conference hosts over 700 human resources professionals as they receive continuing education opportunities, network, and learn about industry trends.
As one of nearly 100 vendors in the Exhibit Hall, Paul Wood and Jeanne Heil had the opportunity to visit with these HR professionals, during their breaks in between their sessions and over lunch.
Communication and leadership development is an important topic for every business. Through the course of the day, we spoke to hundreds of managers, supervisors and human resources professionals. Many of these individuals were very excited about what our organization has to offer. Several of the organizations are interested in talking to us about the possibility of building a club for their employees.
We will be spending the next several weeks following up with those that visited our booth, scheduling meetings to talk about the benefits of Toastmasters, and offer demonstration meetings to their employees. We will also be inviting those that attended the SHRM Conference to visit a local club.
This was an excellent opportunity to share the Toastmasters program. We will continue to pursue these opportunities in the future, helping more and more organizations and individuals discover, develop and improve their communication and leadership skills.
