DISTRICT GOVERNOR MARK LATTA, DTM
There is an old saying “Garbage in, garbage out.”Every day, we have a chance to determine whether we will get value out of the opportunities of the day. Will we learn something new or simply rely on what we believe to be true? Will we lead or will we remain in the shadows? Will we be more tomorrow than we were today, or will we simply manage to survive today and remain stagnant.

My experience tells me that we have a choice in the equation. If we seek out opportunities to be better communicators and leaders, we will better able to recognize those opportunities. If we put our best in, we will realize a tremendous amount of value out.
I have been fortunate enough to be a Club Officer, Area Governor, District Public Relations Officer (PRO), District Lieutenant Governor of Marketing (LGM), and District Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training (LGET). In every role, I have found that the value I received from fulfilling a leadership role was directly correlated to the amount of effort I put into that role. And this goes for being a member and working on speeches as well.
My goal for this year is to get the most out of my District Governor year by making sure that I put the right level of effort into it. I plan on seeking out new challenges, and helping make sure that each member gets their $36 (plus club dues) every 6 month period if they truly work the program.
Join me in helping our members realize the higher esteem and confidence it comes from working the proven Toastmasters program. If they aren’t putting garbage in, shouldn’t they get better than garbage out?
