On Thursday, October 8, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad signed a proclamation declaring October Toastmasters Month in Iowa. Several members of District 19 were able to join the Governor in his Chambers in the Capitol to witness the signing.

The vision of the Toastmasters International organization is to empower people to achieve their full potential and realize their dreams, and
Toastmasters International is the world’s leading organization devoted to communication, public speaking and leadership skills, and has more than 313,000 members in 126 Countries, and
Since the Toastmasters organization began in 1924, more than three million men and women have benefited from its communication and leadership program, and
Members of Toastmasters benefit from improved communication skills, constructive evaluation, better meeting facilitation skills, leadership skills and increased self-confidence as an added dividend, and
The mission of a Toastmaster Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth, and
The Toastmasters program provides these benefits to more than 3,200 Iowans in more than 89 clubs across the state,
Therefore, I, Governor Terry Branstad, hereby proclaim October, 2015, to be Toastmasters International Month in the state of Iowa.
