Fellow Toastmasters: It is with a heavy heart that I announce Jacque Johanson suffered a massive heart attack on Saturday. Yesterday was determined to be brain dead and will have life support withdrawn today. Those of you who knew Jacque, know she was a member, friend, mentor and supporter of Toastmasters. She exuded Toastmasters. Jacque was a DTM, a Past District Governor, founder of many clubs. Held every office possible in Toastmasters clubs, Many time Area and Division Governor. Founder of numerous clubs. Her mother Joan Johanson, DTM, PIG has given permission to post this and requests all prayers and thoughts to be with the family during this time. There is at this moment no plans cemented in place for services.
Heaven received an Angel today. Jacque Johanson was a lady, a mentor, a model and a great friend with the strength beyond my understanding. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and had no problem being a tad abrasive if the situation warranted it. That was what I saw in her, that was what I admired in her as well as the ability to adapt to situations as necessary.
When I first met Jacque we were at my first Toastmasters Conference being held in Marshalltown, IA. Little did I realize inheriting a sister and a mom at the same time in the Johanson ladies was in the near future. Jacque led me through times when I was ready to quit Toastmasters and crawl back into my shell. Kicked my tush when I didn’t do something up to the standards she held in high esteem. Forgot more than I would ever remember about Toastmasters. Yes, Jacque lived, breathed and exuded Toastmasters.
This could go on for many pages and not say all that I would like to. Suffice it to say, We will, I will miss that blonde from Fort Dodge the eternal Toastmaster, Jacque Johanson.
