OH MY GOODNESS!! I wish you all could have attended the signing of the Governor’s Proclamation declaring October 2019 to be Toastmasters Month in Iowa. October 22, 1924 – 2019 marked our 95th year of Toastmasters International, officially. As we gathered in the hall of the capitol in Des Moines, we could feel the energy building. Nine of us were able to attend given the very short notice (the Governor has an incredibly busy schedule) and we were full of enthusiastic smiles ready to put Toastmasters best foot forward. It was fun to speak directly with Governor Kim Reynolds and to take personal pictures with her. This memorable occasion was afforded to us by the efforts of our District 19 Public Relations Manager, Ken Boardrow. Thank you, Ken and thank you to the Toastmasters who drove, took time away from work or personal time to represent the body of District 19 it was GREATLY appreciated.
A silly side story, when all of us had exited the room where the photo was taken, we realized that the proclamation needed to be dated. Ooops! The governor had accidentally forgotten to add the date. When we popped back in, she was already with another group, but someone took it back into her to add the date. Thank you, Governor! Check out our photo with the missing date.
