From Mark Latta, District 19 Lt. Governor of Education & Training:
I had the pleasure of attending a top-notch Division Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Division C Governor, Brenda Peshak, put on a professional and educational show.
The day kicked off with the District 19 Chief Judge, Keith Nielsen, educating all 37 Toastmasters and 3 guests attending the event regarding the roles, responsibilities, and pitfalls of judging. Keith provided the “to dos” and “not to dos” of successful judging and explained the fundamentals of the judging form.
Next on the docket was Thomas Lindeman. Thomas not only covered the Distinguished Club Program (DCP), but offered some practical advice on how the club can achieve the goals. I noticed several audience members taking copious notes during his presentation, so it appears that people received a lot out of value out of this session.
Last on the agenda was the breakout sessions. Based on the session that I attended, the new or returning officers were all engaged and had a lot of questions. To me, it’s really great when experienced and newer Toastmasters can get together at an event like a TLI and really share ideas. That definitely happened at this TLI.
Overall, Saturday’s Division C TLI went off without a hitch. It appeared to me that both seasoned and newer Toastmasters got a lot out of the educational sessions, which is what a TLI should be.
Well done to Division C! It was great to “C everyone there!”
