At the Area 32 Contest recently in Cedar Rapids, several young participants in a Toastmasters Youth Leadership program were given a chance to shine.
Two gave speeches (one on “The Learning Behavior of Pets,” and the other “Dr. Who 101”). Another Youth Leader read the mission statement to open the contest, and one assisted the timers. Their participation really made the evening special for both them and the attending Toastmasters. The Youth Leadership program is being conducted for Linn-Mar School District Home Schoolers by Gary Whitehill and Area 32 Governor Jeanne Heil.
Jeanne said after the contest, “The Youth Leadership speakers were each spectacular in their own special way. The audience was so amazed by the courage and preparation of these young leaders that they gave each of them a standing ovation.” At the end of the contest, all four were brought forward and presented with a thank you gift, capping an evening they’ll all remember for a long time. .
